No fault to the property but my own overlooking when booking, there is no AC at this property but had ample fans. However, this does lead to a bit muggy feeling and found mold through bathroom drains and difficult to drain the water in our unit. Bit outdated furnishings and cushions. Best part was all the extras supplied at the unit (ie, coolers, beach towels, scuba gear, binoculars)! Feb 26, 2022 Comments:Beautiful views Experience:My wife and I recently spent the end of a 2 week trip celebrating our tenth anniversary in Hawaii at this wonderful property. It was well furnished and clean upon arrival with everything one would need as a home away from home. Furnishings were all well kept and the bed was large and comfortable. The unit is not air conditioned(common for Hawaii) but the ocean breeze and large screened windows made that a non-issue. Pictures can't capture the beautiful views of the sunset over the bay and the whales which seemed to be everywhere during our trip(binoculars provided). Beaches are a very short walk away with a good reef for snorkeling. We would definitely recommend this property to others and would gladly stay there again ourselves. Feb 5, 2020 Comments:Afraid to write this review... Experience:If I tell everyone how wonderful our trip was then Kihei Surfside 203 may not be available the next time we are in Maui! The location is fantastic. Right on the ocean. Overlooking a park and a rocky beach with "crashing waves" as my wife likes to call them. This is perfect because there are not a lot of people messing up the view of the ocean. 100 yards away is a fantastic sandy beach that is good for snorkeling and sitting in the sun. It is a nice .9 of a mile walk to great dining. I highly recommend the fish tacos at Coconuts and anything from Da Kitchen. The salads and pudding at 808 Deli are fantastic! 203 is very nicely appointed. Comfortable furniture and well equipped. We had everything we needed for a fantastic and relaxing stay in Kihei. The residents of Kihei Surfside are very nice and great to talk to. My only word of caution is to prepare for hot in the summer as the unit isn’t air conditioned. If there isn’t a breeze it can get quite warm. There are ceiling fans and other fans available to help relieve the heat though. We are already planning our next stay. Matt H. A nice beach is just a 2 minute walk around the corner and there is some decent snorkeling to wet your feet there as well. We saw 2 sea turtles! Very open communications with the property managers. Experience:I’ve been raving about this condo since we stepped through the door. Great location, newly remodeled, wall of windows facing the beautiful ocean and so many amenities - pool, grill, Pitt-around golf, lawn chairs, coffee, tiki torches and more! People came to our location to watch the beautiful sunsets! Plenty of everything that you need inside the condo as well. Pots pans coffee maker wine glasses toaster. They even had some beach coolers snorkel gear and umbrellas in the closet. The bed is super comfortable and the sheets and pillows are great! We opened up all the windows and had the best breeze inside and you can hear the ocean because it’s right there! Pro tip: Plenty of washers and dryers but there is not a change machine so grab some quarters ahead of time. Loved our stay and the assistance the management team and Vrbo team gave us all the way. Experience:Check-in was a breeze, owners emailed to be sure we arrived OK. The unit appeared to be recently remodeled, very tastefully done. It was super clean...and I have serious OCD ;-). We found absolutely everything we needed from beach chairs, umbrellas and coolers to a sewing kit and chop sticks for our Poke! We ate breakfast and enjoyed sunset every day on the lanai. Listening to the waves crashing as we fell asleep each night was lovely. We can't say enough good things about Surfside Condos! Experience:Stayed here because of the view, and was expecting everything a condo had to offer as usual. No AC first day kind of sucked it was super humid would have liked there to be an AC. The remaining stay was actually pretty cool and the wind passed through the condo so beautifully and in the room there’s sort of a little vortex happening that keeps it super fresh I loved it. But the reason I’m only giving it 5 stars is because of the laundry! We had to pay to use the washer and dryer and that’s a first, I really didn’t like that. South Gate, CA August 17, 2018 Comments:Phenomenal condo with perfect views Experience:This location is perfect- close to Wailea/Makena but quieter and more affordable than the oversized resorts that overtake that area. Unit #203 is gorgeous and faces the ocean. It is equipped with everything you could need and the owner is very responsive. One closet is full of beach towels, boards, beach balls, chairs, etc. I was initially worried that the lack of A/C would be an issue in August but it was actually perfect with these breezeway panels that open in the bedroom. The sun sets right in front of the property and 5 Palms Restaurant (right next door) has a delicious beachside happy hour everyday. We went here a couple of nights to eat sushi and drink cocktails while we watched the sun go down. I would definitely stay here again! Jess B. In 2015 there was a full makeover for the building which allowed for many owner remodels & upgrades! We have stayed in various units over the years and #203 is definitely one of the BEST! Very well appointed, comfortable and upgraded. The kitchen is very functional and all amenities throughout the Condo are great. You cannot beat the location or views and this is why we keep coming back. The daily ritual sunset "happy hour" on the gorgeous grassy picnic/BBQ area is really fun to attend (BYOB & food). Walks on the fabulous Keawakapu beach and beaches beyond are just steps away. Bottom line, we love this place and all the wonderment that are close by! Eadie H. First, you’re literally oceanside, not across the road. All Lani overlook the water and beautiful resort grounds. Everyone gathers on the lawn for sunset, and the call of the conch shell. The property is enormous, with a huge lawn and crystalline swimming pool. The sound of the surf soothes the soul, day and night. A few hundred feet down the path, over a mile of white sandy beach becons for sunrise walks, paddling and snorkeling. Best of all, it’s hidden from the crowds. Not visible from the main Kihei highway, the beach is much quieter than popular public beaches in town. Our unit (203) is freshly remodeled, beautiful and new. After 10 days, we left with no suggestions for repair or improvements because it’s perfect. So comfortable! Kihei Surfside is paradise. This is our first time here, we’ll be back. Modest pool. We loved being very south in Kihei - away from the chaos but quick access. Extremely convenient location; but not very walkable to restaurants and stores (fine by us). I have to admit being overwhelmed at check-in. It was 92+ that day and with the unit all closed up and without AC it was HOT. I did panic a little (not going to lie). Opened windows, got a cross breeze and had to leave for a while. It was warm sleeping one of the nights. A window unit would have thrilled me!! The unit is well appointed and offers A LOT of fun things....chairs, cooler, umbrella, beach towels. There is NOT a lot of closet or storage space. The owners have a number of locked cabinets and the half bath closet. You don't need much in Maui - but just know going in that you might have to get creative with storing what you bring. Experience: The lanai provided a beautiful front-drop to start every day and end every evening. The Keawakapu Beach is very close by and it's easy to trek chairs, umbrella, and snorkel gear to a nice sandy location. The grounds are beautifully kept and so much grass! We enjoyed daily walks often to Polo Beach Park with a stop at the Shops at Wailea on the way back but we also walked to Po'olenalena Beach (and back) three times and once to Kalama Park (and back). The unit is well equipped and very comfortable. It's close enough to Kihei but far enough away. We'd certainly recommend this unit. Phil H.. Experience: If there was more than 5 stars, this place would be get it. The condo is amazing, the price is even more spectacular. We actually left there after four days and came down to a resort for a wedding, terrible idea. Stay in Kihei. If you can get this unit, (If I haven't already booked again) do it. Depending on what you like, this place has it. Grass? Amazing. Beach? Amazing. Even a pool if you're one of those people that goes to a beach to sit by the pool. (Not us) The snorkeling was even better here than is was on the $200 trip we took on a boat. I have nothing bad to say about anything at this place. Food is close and delicious, parks are close, and other excellent beaches if you wanna head out for an adventure. The breeze is great at night through condo, so anyone worried about the no AC can rest assured, it is nice. I will be back, again, and again. Best owner I have ever worked with as well. Very patient and worked with us when mail service was slow. I wish I could give a better review. Top notch. Don't pass up the opportunity to stay here. Jonny P. The view was just as it was online, fabulous! We figured out routine to keep the condo kind of cool to deal with no air conditioning. Keep the curtains closed during the day while you're not there. The staff around the complex were super friendly as were the other occupants. It was nice to have the beach toys supplied (chairs, cooler, masks, umbrella). Everything went smooth from online reservation to easy checkout. We would stay here again! It is also close to show and restaurants. It comes furnished with everything you expect and a few extras such as beach towels, chairs and umbrella. The only downside is no AC. I found though that most condos in this area didn't offer AC in the same price range so seems that is standard. Since there is no AC, windows are open all the time. The ones on the non-ocean side in the master bedroom allows for some noise early in the morning (traffic, people talking and birds (very loud birds). We woke each morning around 7:30 a.m. due to the noise. But I figure we can sleep late when we get back home right? It is Hawaii!! No need to sleep the day away. Since we were vacationing with our 23 month old daughter, we anticipated spending a significant amount of time in the suite; therefore, we were interested in a suite on the beach side of South Kihei Road with a view of the ocean. Kihei Surfside (suite 203) exceeded our expectations. The suite looks out over the ocean, pool, and beautiful grounds. After a morning at one of the many nearby beaches (I would say Keawakapu beach, which is steps from the suite, is one of the most beautiful beaches in Maui) and an afternoon at the pool, our family often enjoyed dinner on the balcony, watched the sun set, and witnessed the ceremonial blowing of the conch shells, which many guests participate in every night at Kihei Surfside. In the evening the suite is filled with the sound of the waves crashing over the rocks below the balcony and in the morning we woke to the sound of island birds. It was an extremely tranquil experience. During breakfast on the balcony our daughter frequently spotted sea turtles and manta rays swimming directly in front of the suite. She also appreciated the beach toys that she found in the suite. We will definitely be returning to Kihei Surfside. The Kihei/Wailea area is beautiful. I think it would be difficult to find a condominium closer to the ocean with a better view than Kihei Surfside (suite 203).
