Don't waste your time lining up for the Kihei Cafe for breakfast - check our D-Lite fresh

had 2x was better than a sit down dinner at some of the fancy beachfront restaurants.

Mama's Fish House is always a favorite dinner spot of ours. We also enjoy going to
Eskimo Candy Fish Market for lunch several times during our stay. Ululani's Shaved Ice,
Wow Wow Lemonade, Coconuts Fish Tacos are some of our other local favorites.

Don't buy a swim with turtles package as you only need to jump in the ocean out front
and you'll be doing it for free. On the other hand, the 8 line zip tour out of Kanapali
was a thrill, a little pricy, but worth it. Also, the Old Lahaina Luau was delightful
and the food was excellent as well as the service.
Liza K. from Sacramento, CA.

Helicopter ride over the island was fantastic. Just remember to pay the $5 parking fee,
or it's a $35 ticket. We found that out the hard way.

Whale watching, the lavender gardens, mamas, KIHEI cafe, just to name a few. You could be very,

We found that the early bird Sunset 3 course dinner at the Five Palms
(next door to Kihei Surfside) was excellent and a good value.
Happy hour at Longhi's in the Wailea Shops complex was great with
excellent cocktails at happy hour prices.
And, of course, Mama's Fish House is always excellent. We had a superb
lunch there on our last day on Maui.

Please, Da Kitchen and try Shaka pizza. Weird to have pizza on Maui
but the leftovers reheat GREAT on the BBQ pit. We're going to try it at
home, too. If no South swell, snorkeling is great at Keawakapu and
Ulua. All is good. By Alta & Jim E. from San Bruno, CA

5 Palms next door (at Mana Kai) has fantastic food -- go for happy hour
for half-price appetizers. Fat Daddy's has fantastic barbeque. Fat
Cats in Lahaina has incredible burgers! Try the onion rings, too.
Snorkeling at Molokini is a must. Go to Ka'anapoli for parasailing with
UFO Parasail! Pacific Whale Foundation and Maui Ocean Center were
great. Check out the beaches in Makena as well as Kamaole III. Be
expected to pay more at grocery stores for sundries, though. Prefer
Supermarket Times over Foodland; both are convenient, though.

We never go to Maui without eating at Mama's Fish House -- it is
fabulous both in terms of ambience and food quality. Very expensive and
worth it. New this year for us, Capische? an elegant Italian
restaurant on a hill behind Wailea. It is in a lovely, quiet resort
with a fabulous sunset view (or romantic garden setting) -- definitely a
special occasion restaurant. We loved it. Enjoyed the town party (or
whatever it's called) on Friday nights in Makawao. Fun, lively, good
music and food, great shops.

A few new finds for us: Rather than pay for a group excursion, we
rented our own boat from Sea Escapes who brought it to the Kihei boat
ramp next door for launch. We enjoyed 3 hours on the water on our own. A
little expensive for just the 2 of us, but fine for 2 couples. Fun
exploring Molokini and Makena Beaches by ourselves.
For those who love cinnamon rolls, worth a walk up the road a few blocks
EARLY morning (open 5am)to the Cinnamon Roll Place.

1.Five Palms next door for a killer happy hour. Also good for breakfeast, luch and dinner.
2. Cafe O'lei. Great deals for lunch.
3. Antonio's for Italian food. Located in the back corner of Longs Center. Don't let the location put you off .Great food.
Avoid Fred's Mexican. It used to be a favorite of ours but now very underwhelming.

The road to Hana is a must even if a little scary we left early in the
morning and had a great run a bit slower on the way back and a few close
calls on the bends but it all adds to a wonderful day. We managed to
have lunch at Thai food by Pranee in Hana which was some of the best
Thai food outside of Thailand I've eaten a bit of a wait but worth it.
Napili Bay is also lovely for the day especially in the morning get
there early though there's not much parking. I loved the beach closest
to the unit not too crowded, beautiful clear water and soft sand -
paradise. By A guest from Austrailia

For ziplining, the Flying Hawaiian group is unbelievable! They run
their trips out of the Maui Plantation, and are amazing. ALso, tell
guests that rather than renting boogie boards and snorkel equipment,
these can be bought for the same price as renting, and them can be left
in the room for the next guests. We left a new boogie board, some
snorkeling equipment, fins, soccer balls, etc in the room for the next
group.

A must do is a drive to the summit of Haleakala volcano. We did not do
the sunrise trip (too early) but we spent an afternoon driving up and
enjoying this national treasure. We always drive to Hana for the
exceptional landscape and of course the banana bread. Take the time to
know the island and it's culture. This island is truly paradise.
By Ron K. from Calgary, AB

Fabiani's on Lipoa makes delicious quiche and baked goods. Preorder a
whole quiche for a real treat. Cyclists should know that riding
Upcountry from Kula (park around mile 14) past the winery towards Kaupo
is recommended; very little traffic, new smooth pavement and a few
degrees cooler than at sea level. Riding the windward side of West Maui
to Julia's for banana bread is a nice ride. The best bike ride is
from/to Hana but the second best is to park at Twin Falls (or the rest
area at mile 12) and ride to Hana and back. Much more fun than driving
the road. Join the Kihei Public Library for $10. The two good Farmer
Markets are on Kihei Road; one at the corner where you turn for the
Library, and the second one if further north just before the junction to
cross the island. Also Lees Orchard between the two markets has the
best mangoes. Snorkelling at the neighbouring beach is highly
recommended.

We wondered over to the Tiki Lounge, near Foodland, at about 4PM one
day. The outdoor patio boasted of great music, good beer and food at
happy hour prices. A surprising find. Went out on a Boss Frog whale
watching boat from Maalea Harbor and traveled with a pod for over and
hour. Thought they'd go right under the boat for awhile. Got tickets
over at the Mana Kai activities desk, and the cost couldn't be beat.
Always go out on the Pacific Whaling Foundation boat, but this was as
good a trip as have every found there, with lots fewer people.

The only tip I could say is that I didn't need to spend $90 on a

fish, coral reef and swam up close to several turtles!

Recommend the sunset sail with pick-up at our condo, a beautiful

Ululani's had amazing shaved ice! Coconuts resturant has the best fish

We had a late lunch (4:30 ish) at the Kula Lodge one day. The view was
great, the service was warm and friendly and the food delicious. We
would highly recommend it. Even a visit for desert and coffee would be
great. We loved the feature desert (pineapple upside down cake) and
banana cream pie. Yummy!
We took the Full Day Ultimate Lanai Snorkel from Slip 17 with the
company called Ultimate Whale Watch. It was fabulous. They use a
zodiac so there is no bathroom (other than the Pacific Ocean!) but they
can cover a lot of distance on the zodiac with two high power motors.
We followed a group of spotted dolphins and watched them frolic in the
waves created by the boat. We spotted a group of bottle nose dolphins
and enjoyed 3 great snorkelling spots, especially the last one that they
called Buddha's Point. The reef there was spectacular. The guides
were extremely knowledgeable and speeding along in the zodiac was as
good as any Disney ride. Definitely recommend this for those who love
adventure!
For a casual dinner or great for take out to watch the sunset from the
lanai, we highly recommend Coconut's Fish Cafe at 1279 S Kihei Road.

Toured most of the island by car and enjoyed visiting the volcano, Hana
Rd., and several parks. However, we'd especially recommend the little
visited Makena State Park and beaches where you can hike along the

interactive maui-maps.com. Great a resource, which we didn't discover
until after we left.

I highly recommend a dinner at Nick's Fishmarket in Wailea for an
exquisite dinner in a beautiful setting. For more casual dining, I
highly recommend Coconut's Cafe for fish tacos, fish 'n' chips and
salads. A lunch favourite is 808 deli for $8 salads & sandwiches.

We didn't have to travel for miles by car to get to two exceptional
restaurants, right next door. Eating yards from the beach from breakfast
to dinner, sunsets were dessert!
Saw a completely different Maui at the Iao Needle and our trip to the

that outside a plane. Sun, Sea, Sky, this place has it all in abundance.

Walk toward the beach, turn left on the path along the parking lot and
in five minutes you are at The 5 Palms. Great food and service. If
you feel like spending more on a meal and getting more wait staff than
